we is shore dedicated- Secundomir
AT RADIO NOW
We Is Shore Dedicated is an experimental music project led by songwriter Sam Tsitrin. Blending elements of jazz, contemporary composition, and art rock, the project embraces ambiguity, finding structure in the space between abstraction and the tangible. The songs invite interpretation rather than prescribe it, rewarding repeated listening with new perspectives.
Recorded at Opus Studios in Berkeley, California, Secundomir brings together an exceptional group of jazz musicians from the San Francisco Bay Area and New York. They improvise and play with strong technical skill, moving between written sections and open improvisation.
The album's title, Secundomir, reflects three interconnected ideas.
It draws first from the Ukrainian секундомір ("stopwatch"), suggesting a measurement of time. The record serves as a snapshot of a particular moment—a musical document of the songwriter's view of the world.
It also references the Italian seconda ("second"), echoing the album's compositional language, where the intervals of the major and minor second recur as central musical ideas, creating tension, movement, and color throughout the work.
Finally, it invokes the Russian мир, a word that means both "world" and "peace." The title suggests the possibility that even a single moment of peace might reveal something essential about the world we share.
Secondomir is a record that balances meticulous composition with spontaneous performance, inviting listeners into a musical landscape where language, harmony, and meaning remain intentionally open-ended.
