TRÍADA - EXUVIA - VERVE/MERCURY

Argentinian band TRÍADA release their vibrant and personal debut album, Exuvia, out now on Verve / Mercury Records. Named after the scientific process of an animal shedding its skin, the band turns over a new leaf as they write and perform original music for the first time. Comprised of Diamela Spina (percussion, vocals), Aylen Reynoso (guitar) and Julia Percowicz (vocals), TRÍADA is writing Argentinian folklore on songs that draw from poetry, friendship, and Latin classical instruments.

“It's a birth,” the band says of the album. “The process of metamorphosis, and the skin that TRÍADA leaves behind.” The eleven rich tracks hold “emotional maturation, the transition from one stage to another.”

A labor of love made alongside producer Didi Gutman (Brazilian Girls, Nathy Peluso, Siddharta), Exuvia allowed the Argentinian trio to explore new sides of themselves. Blending bossa nova, candombe, tango, chacarera (folklore), and their classic acoustic style, the three girls take after their name—TRÍADA, the musical term for three notes that make a single chord—morphing into a sonic sisterhood.

This summer, TRÍADA introduced the album with the percussive single “Clara,” and an interpretation of Spanish rapper C. Tangana’s raw, unrequited love song, “Un Veneno,” recently performed on The Recording Academy’s ReImagined series here. On their version, TRÍADA reimagines the original with a milonga rhythm on guitar that mimics tango.

Later this year, TRÍADA will celebrate the release of their debut album with performances in the UK and in Spain, including stops at the Barcelona Jazz Festival and London Jazz Festival on November 18th in support of Charlotte Dos Santos.

More like sisters than bandmates, the Buenos Aires-based trio first took shape at their performing arts high school. The girls filmed singing videos after class, recording covers of Bossa Nova classics like João Gilberto’s “O Pato,” which garnered over 2 million views. Eventually, “O Pato” became their first proper release, solidifying their far-reaching sound and global audience.

Their debut EP De Versiones y Alma earned praise from SPIN, HOLA!, and Remezcla for their rising talent, as the band is “undoubtedly connected by heart, soul, and passion for music.” The EP offered listeners a chance to step into their jam session, enveloped in their comforting vocals and sisterly sound. Through their romantic covers, TRÍADA transformed songs from around the world with a fresh Argentine flair.
