AT RADIO NOW
Oklahoma City’s Thunder Jackson, the son of an Elvis Presley impersonator, saw music, and its transformative powers, as his most logical vocation. His triumphant sophomore album, Hello Stranger, out October 25th, boldly affirms this path while highlighting Jackson’s blooming confidence as a writer and performer.
The 12-song record was tracked at famed Texas studio Sonic Ranch. Produced by Jackson and Taylor Johnson and mixed by Grammy/ARIA award winner Eric J Dubowsky (Flume, St. Vincent), Hello Stranger mines a range of Jackson’s influences, from Richard Swift to D’Angelo, fusing them into a kaleidoscopic sound entirely his own.
Across the album – from singles “The Fever & The Dream” (with it’s epic Fear and Loathing-esque video by Jarod Evans) and German pop radio hit “Steady Freddy” to title track “Hello Stranger” (strings by Stevie Blacke) and opener “Spoonfed Desire” (featured on Don Letts’ BBC6 show Culture Clash Radio) – Jackson probes the nature of self and the paradoxical landscape of our hyperconnected yet profoundly isolating modern world.
Hello Stranger follows Jackson’s 2022 Take Me Back EP , produced by Ryland Blackinton (U.S. Girls, Cobra Starship) and named after its title track, a collaboration with Australian artist and producer Chet Faker. The project was #1 NACC Most Added the week of release.
His debut, 2020’s Thunder Jackson, produced by Pete Lawrie Winfield (Until the Ribbon Breaks, Run the Jewels) and mixed by Rob Kinelski (Billie Eilish, Joji), was released at the height of the Covid pandemic. Despite this, and an accompanying US tour with Milky Chance canceled, Thunder Jackson has amassed tens of millions of streams and spawned viral hits “Love Sick Doctor” and “Guilty Party”.
Named one of the “Best 15 Acts” at SXSW 2024 by CLASH Magazine (“the showmanship of Sly Stone with the songcraft of Elton John”), Jackson will hit the road in 2025 in support of Hello Stranger.
