About moonweather

moonweather is a long-distance relationship that began in 2016 when singer Billy Hodge, bassist Colin Hoell, and synth-master Bobby Burgess quit their jobs, built a basement studio in Cincinnati, Ohio, and spent their summer writing songs, recording, and avoiding responsibility at all cost. Since then, the group has expanded and now includes long-time contributors Michael Barnett on guitar and Michael Kaple on pretty much any instrument you could imagine. Though these 5 members are the core of moonweather, it has always been a collaborative project, pulling in musicians from around the Cincinnati, Columbus, and San Francisco areas.

Fall in the Void

A project roughly 5 years in the making, Fall in the Void is moonweather’s 3rd album. The extended timeline reflects myriad start-and-stop moments for the band as life’s complications presented themselves, a theme you will find throughout the album. While not a complete departure from moonweather’s previous LPs, Fall in the Void feels slightly more grown up, a little more polished, but definitely familiar: sweeping orchestral movements with a foundation in singer-songwriter folk, punctuated every so often with a heavy, dazzling guitar sludge and a drum fill that will blow your nips off.
