BLUESMOUSINE - FRIDAY NIGHT COFFEE - [SELF-RELEASED]

There’s no blues in Bluesmousine.

Wait what?

Let’s rewind to 2016. It’s the story of two guys who start going to blues shows at the Limoilou pub. Rinse and repeat. Things spiral, one thing leads to another. Eventually, they come up with a plan: start a band and write an album. A blues album. But without the blues.

Ten years later, helmed by Nick Jenkins (The Blaze Velluto CollecPon), Manu Gravel (the Manufest), Oli Laroche (Fuudge), Dom PellePer (Caravane, Bønanza) and their slick alter egos Steve Bawee, Micheal Japan, Kenny Long and Sco[ Stanley, Bluesmousine hits the road, pedal to the metal, with Friday Night Coffee.

The guys love The Police, the Beastie Boys, ZZ Top, Kool & the Gang, CCR, old-school AC/DC — and they make all of it their sandbox. With a twist. The aura of the ’80s and everything orbiting around it shines through the tones running across the record. Like one sweet, 11-track ride, the foursome rolls through energetic, efficient songs with a serious second-degree sense of humor, all designed to fuel the party and trigger that irresistible urge to dance.

“No heaviness, no melancholy: just pure fun.”

On Friday Night Coffee, deadpan lyrics rub shoulders with psychedelic fumes, absurd winks, a touch of disco and rap, memorable guitar-hero moments, and a whole lot of funky stuff pulled straight out of the glove compartment.

Bluesmousine is sweat, swing and the raw pleasure of playing loud… A musical limousine flying full speed down the highway of groove.
