The World OF BIRDS - "HONEY MONEY" - KUDUKUDU
AT RADIO NOW
'Honey Money' was written while on tour in South Africa. The Birds claim it to be the quickest song they've ever written. The entire song and its arrangement fell into place on a car trip from Cape Town to Johannesburg. The lyrics, melody and production were tweaked, edited and perfected in the backseat and upon in arrival in Joburg, the Birds had included it in their set for their performance that night. The "Ooh, Ah's" were written by members of a crowd in Pretoria, with The Birds later adding the crowd's input into the mix.
The song's subject matter dives into a common birds theme, that of the modern day relationship, this song in specific relation to the depth of ones pocket.
ABOUT THE WORLD OF BIRDS
The World Of Birds is a Cape Townian Indie Pop sensation. Comprised of Nicholas Preen (Al Bairre), Conor Paul McCarthy (Cute Couple) & Benjamin Samuel McCarthy (Oracles), the trio initially came together with the intention of launching Preen’s solo career after a decent run as the lead singer of Al Bairre, one of South Africa’s brightest indie bands.
But the trio carved out their own sound, unique in its exuberance and playfulness. In little over a year, their songs have spun on Triple J, Beats1 and H&M's worldwide in store playlisting. Their music has reached every corner of the globe, gaining 1 million streams in just 12 months.
