The Skullers’ summer single “Brooklyn Girls” is the first track from their forthcoming EP due in October and produced by acclaimed Americana artist/producer Don DiLego.
Producer Don DiLego says “when Jack sent me the demo to ‘Brooklyn Girls’, I immediately wanted to be the one to record it. I felt the song captured a new spirit in the band, and a notable leap forward in the songwriting. And I can say, I wasn’t let down. The recording sessions for that song were what you’re always hoping for as a producer.”
Songwriter Jack Skuller notes “I felt compelled to write a song with a waltz time signature and a single chord progression to channel the hypnotic rhythms of a big city. We wanted to experiment and used Ebow instead of live strings and loved it!”
The Skullers have been playing their brand of modern rock and roll torched with blues and written from a rockabilly heart in the New York Metropolitan area. They have twice been featured as the Jersey Rock Band Of The Week on WRAT-FM 95.9 radio. Frontman Jack Skuller was recognized by Songmasters and the Songwriter’s Hall of Fame for his breakthrough talent as a singer/songwriter/performer. They awarded him the Holly Prize in tribute to the legacy of Buddy Holly and in recognition of Skuller’s all-in-one talent in 2014.
The single “Brooklyn Girls” will be available July 12, 2019 on all digital streaming platforms including Spotify, Apple iTunes, YouTube and Amazon among others. The Skullers will perform at the Johnny Thunders Birthday Bash at the Bowery Electric in New York City on July 14, 2019.
