say lou lou - dust pt 1. - cosmos

'Dust' - 'an epic dream-pop journey with a definite nod to the 90's dance-pop anthems, in a chic contemporary landscape. With 'Dust' the critically acclaimed duo presents a new collaboration with producer Eli Hirsch (courtship!), mixer Blue May (Blood Orange, Joy Crookes, Ghetts, Sudan Archives) and master engeneer Joe Laparta (Miley Cyrus, David Bowie, Solange, Laufey).

Dust: Things that haven’t been touched, moved, acknowledged or looked at because of its irrelevance, pain, discomfort or taboo. We’re investigating not only the dust itself, but the entity which has collected the dust. Dust represents the layers of time, maybe the beauty of something that hasn’t changed, but our perspective on it has. ‘Dust’ is a candid collection of songs that chronicle various steps of a break up; mourning, anger, remorse and forgiveness. Being in it, being out of it, being under someone else, being over it. This record is us going through the motions and realising that love always looks clearer in the rear view mirror.

About the songs on the EP:

Dust

When you’ve fallen out of love and an icky feeling takes over everything - the person next to you in bed feels like a stranger and you’re wondering “how did I get here?”.

Wong Kar-wai

Wishing you were somewhere else, not here, anywhere - that love was like a film, a dream, anything but this tired, sad reality. Wong Kar-wai is a director who manages to reflect longing and mystery, a master of composition and capturing how chance encounters can be the fate that you needed

In My Dreams

This song is entirely aspirational- it’s imagining a future where you can be friends, when everything is forgiven, where you’ve moved on from the hurt and anger, and you can be in each other’s life. That will probably never happen, but “in my dreams” it’s a beautiful future where you can be in each other’s lives.

Waiting for a Boy

”’Waiting for a Boy’ flowed out of a very natural and genuine place in us both, and the process reminded us of the early days of us writing songs for Say Lou Lou - a sense of ease, excitement and urgency.”

No One

wrapping your head around once knowing someone so intricately to then not knowing them at all. Where did those two people that were in that relationship go?
