It’s called Million Reasons, but you’ll find twelve track-by-track reasons to fall in love with the brilliant second release by NJ three-piece RGD. Comprised of veterans of the vibrant and longstanding New Brunswick, Jersey shore and Philadelphia music scenes, RGD is a kinetic garage rock band who lean heavily on their 60s pop and early 70s glam influences, and offer it through a lens of thoughtful, classic 90s-style indie rock.
Lead vocal duties are shared by drummer Ryan Stalcup, a musical savant and prominent fixture of the Philly scene, and guitarist Gary Kaplan, of bands including The Fletchers and Rotator Cuff. Joined by bassist Dave Jones of Roadside Graves, RGD’s catchiest tunes are reminiscent of Big Star, the Replacements and GBV, with hints of bands like The Kinks and The Who. Standout tracks on Million Reasons include “Not the Way,” “Postcards,” “Take Me Down,” an electrifying cover of Joy Division’s “Transmission” and “Hey Louise.”
