NESUA - FOR ALL THOSE WHO SOJOURN BUT CAN NOT REMAIN - [SELF-RELEASED]

On his debut indie-folk album, “For All Those Who Sojourn But Can Not Remain”, Canadian singer-songwriter Nesua serves up powerful lyrics and haunting melodies with an exploration of the human experience with themes of isolation, self-discovery, environmental consciousness, and the struggle for connection.

The Ontario-based artist, who has suffered from social anxiety and awkwardness most of his life, was diagnosed with autism in 2016 and developed agoraphobia during the pandemic. Despite these challenges, Nesua thrives and finds creative inspiration, capturing the intricacies of his emotions in his songwriting.

Bridging the gap between his personal struggles and the universal human condition, the lyrics on all eight of the album’s tracks drip with raw authenticity, offering a glimpse into his inner world and the challenges he faces.

Technology has not only empowered Nesua, allowing him to record and produce music from the comfort and safety of his own space but to also collaborate with other musicians with virtual collaboration tools, including Death Cab For Cutie keyboardist Zac Rae, who contributed to several tracks on the album. The internet and social media platforms have also allowed Nesua to share his music directly with a global audience, all without the necessity for face-to-face interactions. By choosing to release his album anonymously, Nesua fulfills his desire for complete privacy and anonymity.

Opening the album is Swim, a sonically dense and powerful song that blends rich sounds with raw and authentic expressions of vulnerability, expressing the inner conflict that many of us feel as we witness the environmental degradation that we have caused to the planet.

Nesua masterfully uses metaphors of swimming, sinking, reaching, and reeling to convey the longing for peace, healing, and harmony with the natural world, as well as the guilt, anger, fear, and doubt that prevent us from achieving our spiritual goals.

Delving further into the realms of introspection, Nesua unveils "Superheroes," a poetic exploration of the beauty found within anonymity and quiet presence. Through heartfelt verses, the singer acknowledges his modest existence in the grand narrative of life, finding solace in fleeting moments often overlooked by the bustling world. It's a celebration of the simplicity of shared glances and the intrinsic value of one's quiet essence, even amidst a cacophony of external expectations.

Another stand-out track on the album, "A Story With A Middle Only", encompasses themes of change, loss, time's passage, and the human condition. It offers a poetic reflection on life's transient essence and the quest for meaning within it. The lyrics poignantly express the loss of beauty and hint at broader societal changes, like urban expansion, and the overwhelming force of progress eroding individuality and relationships.

As listeners immerse themselves in the hauntingly beautiful soundscapes of "For All of Those Who Sojourn But Cannot Remain," they are sure to find solace and understanding in Nesua's words, and a sense of kinship with Nesua's experiences and emotions.

Every track on the album acts as a poignant reminder of the common thread of humanity that binds us all and encourages listeners to delve into their own emotions alongside Nesua's genuine and unfiltered storytelling.

Nesua's anonymity allows his music to speak for itself, transcending individual identity to resonate with a diverse audience on a universal level, and reminds us that sometimes the most profound expressions come from the quietest voices.
