MAYBIRD - WONDERLAND - ANTIFRAGILE
Fusing expansive psychedelia with evocative roots rock accents, Maybird are originally from Rochester, New York. Over the past few years, the band spent time in Nashville working with Patrick Carney of the Black Keys on their EP, 'Unraveling,' as well as touring with Portugal. The Man, the Babe Rainbow, and Joywave, leading up to the release of their album, The Things I Remember From Earth in 2019.
After canceling tour dates for 2020 due to the pandemic, Maybird began recording in quarantine and released the 'Bird Sides' EP. The band recently released their songs 'Lost In Wonderland' and 'I'll Miss You When I Wake Up,' both off of their album Wonderland, released today, inspired by pandemic-era existentialism and the classic novel Alice's Adventures in Wonderland.
Regarding the album, Maybird said, "While Wonderland is clearly an album with its spirit tied to [Lewis] Carroll's novel, the record's messages are relatable for anyone experiencing the disorientation of reentering society. For many over the past year, the story of a girl being thrown into a dystopian reality may resonate more than ever before. Wonderland skillfully captures the essence of Carroll's Alice, and creates a world of its own that listeners will want to keep visiting."
