J.Teal is the brain child of Julia Nova of Teenage Aviation, Hiding Places, Golden Looks, Theory of Why, Friends of the Library, and Nigel Byrd. A multi-instrumentalist born in DC draws influences from DC Hardcore to DC gogo to 90s college radio to new wave to post punk to glam rock to fusion jazz. Songs evoke a memory of endless summers wrapped in infectious melodies mixed with melancholy and sarcastic lyrics. J.Teal is a DMV based artist deeply influenced by the history and community of the scene. Songs combine guitar, bass, drum machine, drums, and layer vocal harmonies into hifi bedroom pop/indie rock best listened to blasting on your car stereo (windows down). J.Teal and previous incarnations have opened for Julien Baker, Perfect Pussy, TTNG, Land of Talk, Waxahatee, and more. Sundays is the freshman EP many years in the making.
