hippnotikka - train

Maryland alternative rock band Hippnotikka’s second full album, Train, follows the successful debut album Boa Constrictor, released in 2023. Train consists of ten original songs, encompassing alternative rock, and to some extent, Americana. Train is a journey through the depths of human emotions, stirring up feelings of fervor, rebellion, and reflection.

Notes on each song from the band.

The Wind is My Will – A beautifully written ballad highlighting acoustic guitars and harmonies; one of the lighter songs of the CD, but likely to be a favorite for airplay.

Train – Train is a Hippnotikka duet that touches upon the influence of Americana music, with incredible piano and guitar solos reminiscent of the 70’s great rock band Lynard Skynard.

Take A Look At Me Now – Likely one of the harder rock songs on the CD, it combines a combination of piano, synthesizers, lead guitars, and pounding beat that really rocks!

The Ocean – A very unique rock song with a swing, and enticing guitar riff throughout, telling a story of overcoming hardship and evil.

The Drug of Love – Surely to be another fan favorite, The Drug of Love is another rock song combining searing guitar leads and riveting piano solos telling a story about love, abuse, and dependency.

Steal The World – Straight forward rock song with a hypnotic and psychedelic twist, and a sitar playing throughout reminiscent of Brian Jones’ contribution to the Rolling Stone’s Paint It Black.

One Thousand Words – A beautiful poem put to rock music, with somewhat of an industrial music beat and flair.

Crazy Summer Days – Definitely not pop music, just a real story of overcoming hardship with the support of the one’s who love you. Very original music, with an overall mellow vibe.

Black Dreams – An experimental alternative rock song, combining acoustic guitar and cello, telling a story of temptation.

The Rising Tide – Staying true to Hippnotikka’s desire to make every song on each album unique and as different as possible from all other songs, as well as to experiment with differing genres of music, The Rising Tide is an inspirational gospel influenced song utilizing four-part harmonies.
