GOUWZEE - GOUWZEE - BLACK COTTAGE

Inspired by early 80s post punk and goth curious, Gouwzee reside in Atlanta, GA. John Barnes (drummer), Paul Curry (bassist) and Craig Bennett (guitarist) are what some people call ‘veterans’ of the Atlanta music scene. 

“That’s a nice way of saying we’ve been around awhile,” said Bennett. “We had a vision for this new act, but without a singer it was incomplete. Then we met Miles Wakeman (a young guitarist and vocalist from the area) and within a few moments of hearing his voice on Rude Student, our first single, I knew he would fit in perfectly with what we were doing. Plus he brought in a rather haunting philosophical view with his lyrics that also appealed to us.” 

The band’s debut album came together quickly after that. “We’ve tried to adhere to a certain aesthetic,” said Barnes. “Though it might harken back to a different time period or particular genre, our aim is to put a fresh spin on it.”
