Dose Dan Otero Sonic Ensemble - Up N Down

Dan Otero (you can call him DanO) is a multi-instrumentalist, singer and composer. Starting with a nylon string guitar, a cheap bass, and a binder full of high school poetry, he began creating original music during the summer of ‘90. In college at the University of New Mexico, he honed his improvisational chops with like-minded amigos, many of whom he plays with to this very day! Influenced by Frank Zappa, John McLaughlin, Johnny Cash, Weird Al, Phish and Eminem, DanO's music combines all these styles and more.

Today he plays custom-made Pimentel guitars, Ibanez upright bass & mandolin. In 2016 DanO realized he needed to start publishing these songs, so he built a music studio: Mandolin Company and here we are.

Fun fact: DanO maintains a database of all his finished and unfinished music—nearly 200—and has created at least one song every year from 1990 to 2025. So, it looks like there will be lots more music to come. Stay tuned!
