brother brad - get around [ep] - [self-released]
AT RADIO NOW
Brother Brad formed in June 2016, and, led by brothers Justin and Shaun Bradley, quickly developed a groove-driven sound topped with soulful vocals and punchy horn lines. Based in Sydney, Australia, the band combines backgrounds in Jazz and Pop with their love of Reggae and RnB, creating their own fun-filled brand of Soul Pop.
Since the inception of the band, Brother Brad have played two sold-out headline shows at Oxford Art Factory gallery bar, opened for Casey Donovan at the iconic Sydney Blues venue The Basement, and have shared stages with The Khanz, King Tide, Drop Legs and The Big Ilch. Rocking festival stages and music venues across Sydney, Brother Brad have an infectious feel-good energy which exudes from their live performance. Much of the songwriting has been inspired by their travels, relationships, and experiences growing up in Sydney’s Inner-West. Touching on themes of youth culture in Sydney, the music has an element of defiance towards recent political shifts which are damaging the fabric of Sydney’s nightlife.
2018 has been a huge year for Brother Brad, focused around the May release of their debut EP ‘Get Around’ at The Lansdowne to more than 250 people. On the back of this major release, the band embarked on an Australian regional tour playing shows in Canberra, Wagga Wagga, Bathurst, Orange, Dubbo, Cowra and Goulburn, before returning to Sydney for their sold-out homecoming show at Lazybones. ‘Get Around’ has earned Brother Brad interviews and live performances on a number of Australian radio programs, as they look to push their way into the American market, gaining airplay on US college radio.
October 2018 sees Brother Brad traveling to the US on a month-long musical pilgrimage through New York City, Nashville, Memphis and New Orleans. This time away will be used by the boys for writing and recuperation before they return to Australia to play interstate and festival shows in 2019.
